Skiing in northern Italy leaves nothing to be desired: in the nearby mountains, you will find well-prepared slopes for all levels of difficulty. Four ski areas are located in the immediate vicinity: St. Moritz, Madesimo, Valsassina, and Valtellina. After skiing, the après-ski is very inviting. Especially in the St. Moritz area, you will find 35 mountain huts and restaurants where you can enjoy a cozy end to your ski day.

A special tip for families and couples is ‘Menaggio on Ice’ at Piazza Garibaldi. Here, visitors can go ice skating while enjoying the breathtaking view of Lake Como. The ice rink is open from November 29, 2025, to January 12, 2026, and is considered a real highlight of the winter season. It provides unforgettable moments and is perfect for families with children.
Christmas markets at Lake Como
No winter without festive markets: The Italian Christmas market “Città dei Balocchi” shines with a Christmas atmosphere, featuring decorated Christmas trees and charming stalls. You can visit the now-traditional Christmas market from the end of November to the beginning of January.
The Christmas market in the small mountain village of Madesimo also invites visitors to linger with a colorful mix of market stalls, music, and lights. It takes place every weekend in December on the Piazza della Chiesa and delights with its authentic charm.
