The best time to visit Lake Como is from May to September. During these months, the weather is warm and ideal for swimming, hiking and boat trips. Spring and early autumn are also particularly pleasant and somewhat quieter.

The best way to reach Lake Como is by car, train or plane.

By car, you can travel comfortably via Switzerland or Austria.
By plane, you usually fly to Milan, and from there continue by train or hire a car.

Yes, there are boat services on Lake Como.

The public boat service connects many towns around the lake, including Como, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio and other lakeside towns. Ferries, passenger boats and speedboats run regularly, allowing you to travel comfortably between the towns.

When visiting Lake Como, you really must try some typical Lombard specialities. These include fresh fish from the lake, particularly risotto with perch (risotto al pesce persico), as well as regional pasta dishes such as pizzoccheri from nearby Valtellina. Local cheeses, olive oil and wines from the region are also very popular.

The bathing season usually runs from the beginning of May to the end of September. In May, the water temperature is around 15-19°C and reaches an average of 24°C during the summer months.
