San Siro and surroundings

Pianello del Lario

Pianello del Lario is a small, elongated town on the western shore of Lake Como. The municipality, with a population of around 1,000, belongs to the province of Como and is located about 35 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital.

The typical local restaurants, trattorias, and mountain agriturismos (farms with guest rooms) are located partly directly on Lake Como on the lakeside promenade. Pianello del Lario has a small harbor for sailing and motor boats on Lake Como and is a rather quiet place thanks to the tunneled bypass road. A small supermarket and a bakery ensure that basic supplies are available. A visit to the church of San Martino, located directly on Lake Como, is highly recommended.

The boat landing stage offers excursion possibilities to the south, e.g. to Menaggio, Varenna, or to the north, e.g. to the Abbey of Piona.

San Siro

San Siro consists of the small romantic lakeside villages of Santa Maria Rezzonico, Santa Maria, and Acquaseria and is located on the upper shore of the lake at the foot of Monte Bregagno. The lakeside villages are almost entirely connected by a panoramic lakeside path for walking, jogging, and cycling. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments, kiosks, and sports facilities.

The 13th-century Castello di Rezzonico castle is in a stunning location and encompasses grounds of over 2,000 m² stretching down to the lake shore. Unfortunately, the castle cannot be visited as it is privately owned. However, there is a rocky beach below the castle that can be used for swimming.
