About 50km further north of Milan is the province of Como. The lake owes its name to this town with 83,000 inhabitants. Situated to the west on the southern tip of the right arm, the province offers the perfect opportunity to spend your holiday directly on the crystal clear waters. Furthermore, Como offers some picturesque buildings and monuments. One example is Como Cathedral, which was built over three centuries and is considered a masterpiece of architectural engineering for its time.
Another place worth seeing on Lake Como is Lecco. It lies on the south-eastern arm of the lake and is 30 km from Como. The many mountains that surround Lecco offer hiking opportunities for beginners and professionals.
The city centre is ideal for shopping trips. The old town convinces with picturesque alleys and various shops for every taste. Treat yourself to an ice cream and stroll along the shore of the lake. Despite the high mountains, enough sun still shines on the place, allowing you to enjoy warm summer evenings in Lecco on your holiday in northern Italy.
On the headland between the two southern arms of Lake Como lies the municipality of Bellagio. Thus, the town forms a triangle with the above-mentioned towns of Como and Lecco. It is also called the “Larian Triangle”. The place itself radiates full of blossoming nature and beauty. No wonder Bellagio is also known as the “Pearl of Lake Como”. Here you can also view a variety of lush villas. Die Villa Melzi d’Eril, Villa Monastero, Villa Carlotta Tremezzina, Villa Olmo Como und Villa d’ Este Cernobbio sind nur ein paar Beispiele.
