Dining out and restaurants with dogs on Lake Como

On holiday in Italy, a visit to a restaurant with pizza, pasta and wine is virtually obligatory. And in Italy you can usually take your four-legged friend with you without any problems. However, if in doubt, please inform yourself beforehand, as it can unfortunately happen that dogs are not allowed in restaurants/cafés. But especially on terraces and in outdoor areas, dogs are usually almost always allowed. Going out for a meal with your dog on Lake Como is a great experience for masters, mistresses and their four-legged friends. Be aware of the leash requirement and take a muzzle with you.

In order for you to enjoy an unforgettable and relaxing holiday on Lake Como with your dog, we recommend that you take note of the following tips or do not forget to take them with you.

Personal items: Dog bed, water bowl/food bowl, food, etc.
EU pet passport: with valid rabies vaccination and chip number of your dog. Recommendation: ask your vet about vaccination/prophylaxis.
Leash, muzzle and dog bags: A leash is mandatory in Italy. Tip: Depending on the dog’s upbringing/socialisation and the situation, if you are sure that your dog cannot disturb anyone, you can do without it, but if in doubt, leave it on or always have it with you.
The muzzle is also compulsory in theory, you should take it with you in any case, but it is not taken as strictly as the leash.
First-aid kit: A kit is available in every pharmacy.
Dog harness and dog life jacket (with back handle): Practical for water sports enthusiasts and hikers/mountain climbers if you want to take your dog with you on the water or on more challenging hikes.
