Lake Lugano

Lago di Lugano – Mediterranean flair between Switzerland and Italy

Lugano

The city of Lugano is located at the northern end of the lake and is the cultural and economic center of the region. The elegant old town with its arcades, cafés, and boutiques invites you to stroll around. Attractions such as the San Lorenzo Cathedral and the Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana are cultural highlights. The lakeside promenade with its magnificent views of the mountains is ideal for walking, cycling, and boat trips.

Morambio and Gandria

Gandria is an idyllic village on the eastern shore of the lake, which has preserved its original character with narrow streets and traditional houses. Morambio is situated a bit higher on the hillside and offers a panoramic view of the lake. Both places can be reached by boat or on foot from Lugano.

Porlezza

On the Italian side of the lake lies Porlezza, a charming town with lake access, small beaches, and historic buildings. The surroundings are perfect for walking, cycling, and mountain biking along the lake and in the surrounding hills.
