Lake Como is a varied and scenically beautiful hiking area. The picturesque lake and many of our holiday homes are ideal starting points for hikes of all kinds. You will be rewarded with great panoramic views of the lake and mountain world. Whether it’s easy hikes around the lake for the whole family or challenging mountain hikes on Lake Como or trekking tours, everyone gets their money’s worth here.

Walks and flat hikes can be found around the lake. Along lakeside promenades, through various towns, along the lake, or in nature through the Pian di Spagnia nature reserve, along the Adda river or the valleys.
1.PONTE DEL PASSO – Walk through the nature reserve
Starting point is the bridge Ponto del Passo. Via Dascio you walk along the river Mera towards Lago di Mezzola across large parts of the nature reserve. The route continues to the “Sasso” viewpoint, from which you can see the entire protected area. Beautiful stretch of road where you can observe the local nature and wildlife at close quarters.
2.TRIVIO DI FUENTES – Walk through the Pian di Spagnia nature reserve
You start behind the level crossing towards Pian di Spagnia. This route follows dirt tracks through the south-eastern part of the protected area and along the banks of the Adda river. Here, too, you get to see a lot of the local nature.
3. Walk to the historic church of San Fedelino
The best place to park your car is at the ruined church of San Giovanni all’Archetto and follow the marked path. Meadows, fields and woods follow the river Mera past the rocky outcrops of Monte Berlinghera. The destination is the thousand-year-old little church of San Fedelino, one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in the upper Lario.
4. Via dei Terrazzamenti
Not far from Lake Como, this tour takes you along the villages and vineyards of Tirano to Morbegno, crossing the Valtellina valley. Great walking route with impressive natural and mountain scenery and many historic buildings.
5. Walk to the Torri die Fontanedo near Colico
Start in the hamlet of Colico Villatico. Follow Via Fontanedo up to a rustic mountain restaurant (Ristaurante Robustello, Via Chiaro) – alternatively you can park here first. Here you follow the path, following the signs past old typical Italian stone ruins, meadows and fields and always with plenty of lake views. At the top you can visit the old castle ruins and the still well-preserved tower, picnic benches invite you to linger. The way back is either the same way or a smaller, partly steeper path along a (again you come out at the Ristaurante). Accommodation tip: Residence Sole, Residence Bellavista, Vela and Leonardo are ideal starting points. You can start directly from your domicile.
There are several cable cars on Lake Como in Aregno, Como and in Piani d’Erna. Save yourself the climb up or down. In addition, you can make shorter and longer hikes from the respective mountain station. Other possibilities are hiking tours through the valleys, to the Voltiano lighthouse or to the gorges of Nesso or Bellano. All suggestions are also suitable for families with children.
1.Pianello del Lario
This easy hike on Lake Como starts at the church square in Sant’Anna near Pianello del Lario on the western shore of the lake. The circular trail takes you through shady woodland and past a deer enclosure. From there the trail continues towards Colceno, passing typical old farmhouses. Passing through a chestnut wood, you reach the Jubilee path, here you go downhill again towards Sant’Anna.
2. Circular trail Como
This hike starts in Gravedona at Palazzo Gallio and goes through idyllic old villages, meadows and woods to Stazzona. Here you can visit the parish church of San Giuliano. Continue along a panoramic path towards Dongo, always with a view of Lake Como. From here you walk via Mossanzonico along the western shore back to Gravedona.
3.The Strada Regina- hiking in the Bellano gorge
The old trade route, which was once used by farmers and traders to transport goods from north to south, is now a popular and attractive hiking trail on Lake Como. The trail runs for several stages along the western shore. Historical sights such as the Piona Abbey near Colico or the Orrido di Bellano waterfall. The hike through the gorge of Bellano with its spectacular waterfall is not only adventurous for the whole family but also offers a cool change on hot days.
4.San Bartolomeo to Monte Berlinghera
The starting point for this family and child-friendly hike on Lake Como is the small chapel in San Bartolomeo. You reach the summit of Monte Berlinghera via beautiful gravel paths, forests and green alpine pastures. At the top you will be rewarded with a great panoramic view of the lake and mountain world.
5. Mountain hike for children on Lake Como to the Rifugio Mottafoiada
You start in Garzeno west of Stazzona. You hike along forest and meadow paths towards the Lake Como Adventure Park high ropes course, where the first stop is worthwhile. Continue on to the Mottafoiada mountain hut. After a refreshment stop, you return to Garzeno.
For the more ambitious mountaineers who like to go on big day hikes, there are numerous possibilities on the high-altitude trails above Lake Como. The range of hiking trails is huge. The effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views.

Scenic and varied hike up the highest mountain on Lake Como with spectacular views. Secured hiking trail, nevertheless suitable for experienced hikers
2. Lake como hiking trail to the chapel of san bernado
Wonderful hike through unspoilt countryside along streams and forest and meadow paths Musso on the western shore of Lake Como to the little chapel of San Bernardo. Always with a great view of Lake Como. Tip: Take a break on the plateau below the chapel and enjoy the particularly good view.
3. Mountain tour on the Monte Grona near Menaggio
Hike up the local mountain of Menaggio on Lake Como. Start is in Breglia and it goes directly steeply uphill. As a stopover, we recommend a break at the Refugio Menaggio mountain hut, where you can fortify yourself with regional delicacies. Then continue to the summit of Monte Grona with a beautiful panoramic view.
The range of hiking possibilities around Lake Como is virtually limitless. Whether leisurely tours around the body of water or mountain hikes, almost everyone gets their money’s worth.
