Gravedona

Gravedona is an idyllic fishing village with just over 4,000 inhabitants in the province of Como. Gravedona, with its bay-like lakeshore and its piazza with weekly market, is considered one of the most beautiful places on Lake Como. You will also find several restaurants/pizzerias, two supermarkets and small grocery shops in Gravedona.

The town centre, situated below the shore road and directly on Lake Como, is partly steep and features the typical & idyllic alleys along the picturesque bay of Lago di Como. The sparsely built-up and rather flat headland “Poncia” offers beautiful beaches near the mouth of the river.

Dongo

Dongo is a small and unspoilt village with about 3,500 inhabitants and offers a bay with a fishing harbour. Dongo is located on the upper western shore of Lake Como and impresses with its imposing mountain backdrop.

The small piazza by the bay is a popular meeting place for the locals. Evening events take place there every now and then. The historical buildings of the town are worth seeing, such as the town hall “Palazzo Manzi” with the golden hall (Sala d’Oro) from the Napoleonic era. You will also find several restaurants, bakers and shopping facilities in the village.

The church of San Eufenia is located above Dongo and is a popular hiking destination with a fantastic panoramic view of Lake Como. The mountain villages of Stazzone and Germasino with their rustic mountain trattorias are easy to hike.

Musso

The municipality of Musso, population 1,000, is located south of Dongo on the northern western shore of Lake Como. The town has its historical origins in Roman times and was already known for its white marble. The characteristic winding and tiny alleys run through the centre of Musso. A beautiful lakeside promenade between Musso and Pianello Lario invites you to take a stroll. Quiet residential areas in the countryside can be found on the slopes above. There are also some good restaurants and a small supermarket in the village.

By ship:

Ferry station in Gravedona, Dongo and Musso with passenger ships and hydrofoils to Varenna, Menaggio, Bellagio, Como or Lecco (south) or to the monastery of Piona or to Colico (north).

By train:

Panoramic train on the opposite east bank connects most towns on the east bank with Chiavenna and Milan
Nearest railway station: Colico on the other side of the lake (boat connection)
